COVID UPDATE 18

We trust that you are well and that you have been enjoying the blessings of God in your lives. What a privilege we have to be called children of God and to be called to serve Him during these critical times. It is not easy. We have all discovered that we have had to work twice as hard during the COVID crisis than before it. Yet, we have seen the tokens of God’s blessing upon His Church. We must now continue to hold dear the sacred trust that God has placed within our hands. I take heart in the quotation below from the book, Prophets and Kings.

The lesson is for all in positions of trust. When God opens the way for the accomplishment of a certain work and gives assurance of success, the chosen instrumentality must do all in his power to bring about the promised result. In proportion to the enthusiasm and perseverance with which the work is carried forward will be the success given. God can work miracles for His people only as they act their part with untiring energy. He calls for men of devotion to His work, men of moral courage, with ardent love for souls, and with a zeal that never flags. Such workers will find no task too arduous, no prospect too hopeless; they will labor on, undaunted, until apparent defeat is turned into glorious victory. Not even prison walls nor the martyr’s stake beyond, will cause them to swerve from their purpose of laboring together with God for the upbuilding of His kingdom.   {PK 263.1}

As God opens opportunities, we must be prepared to follow His Providence and move forward by faith. He shall bless us in proportion to our faithfulness, These are a few important points of information that we’d like you to take note of for this weekend.

Church Opening:

The North Bronx SDA Church is committed to your health and safety. As such we are constantly monitoring the public health information from the City of New York, the State and the CDC as we go into week 2 of Phase 1 of our reopening plan that began August 1st. As we reopen the doors of the building, we do realize that we shall have to adjust to a new normal and so here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • The church will be deep cleaned before and after each service
  • Temperature checks will be taken at the door
  • Social distancing and face coverings will be required at all times
  • We are asking those who may be in a high-risk category due to age, or health condition to enjoy the service at home until the city allows for full capacity with fewer restrictions.
Please see the website (CLICK HERE) for a complete guide on what to expect and prepare for as you join us for worship. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sabbath School Old and New:

The online version of Sabbath School has continued to grow weekly as hundreds tune in to study the Word of God. But although we are using new ways of delivering the message, we celebrate that several of our Sabbath School classes are still meeting electronically for old fashion prayer, fellowship, and study.

Some classes have merged in order to further enrich the experience. Please check with your teacher for possible times when you can join your class for prayer. Also, as we enter Phase 1 of the reopening plan, our Sabbath School and Lesson Study will continue to be broadcasted online.

Children’s Ministry Story Call:

The Children’s ministry department of the North Bronx Seventh-day Adventist Church would like to thank you for your continued support and ministry to our Children during one of the most challenging times. It is because of your overwhelming support, and our efforts to ensure our children are ministered to, that we would like to extend a ministry opportunity to you. We recognize that there are those of you who would like to be able to share stories for our children, and there also those of you who would love to be able share a children’s story, but you are not sure you are able to especially in these virtually challenging conditions, if this is you, we’ve got you covered. The Children’s ministry in partnership with Communication and Media ministry are prepared to train and equip you with the resources and skills needed to be able to do so. To join this ministry, simply send an email to nbxsss@northbronxsda.org for additional information you may contact Eld. Michelle Murdock, Sis. Dawn Brown or Sis. Dahlia Reid. Thanks in advance for your continued support.

Joseph’s Storehouse Continues to Grow and Solicits Volunteers:

The Greater New York Conference has selected the North Bronx SDA Joseph’s Storehouse to be a primary food distribution site for the Conference. Through a joint venture with the Northeastern Conference, Greater New York will share 20,000 pounds of food weekly.

Because of our proximity and our mission, Joseph’s Storehouse will be able to secure even more food to assist with our growing need. Additionally, the ministry has been named as a distribution site for City Harvest and will receive additional donations. Joseph’s Storehouse continues to serve 450 families per week making it one of the largest distributions in the Bronx. The Ministry is currently seeking volunteers to assist in food pick-up, delivery, sorting and distribution. If you are able to help, then please call Elder Gregory at 917-838-5638.

Be safe. Be strong. Be blessed.
